I'm making a cake for a party this weekend and i'm tired of using the same old recipe for frosting that I always use. Does anyone have any recipes for a great tasting frosting that would also work good for detailed decorating? Thanks!!

Go to the Wilton cake decorating website at www.wilton.com.
Use the royal icing or buttercream icing recipe, which ever they have listed. This will be the one you always find on wedding cakes and the one that is used for making all of the flowers and other great detailed decorations. Have fun!

My favorite is a standard. Whipped, softened butter, a little vanilla, & powdered sugar until it gets stiff enough for your purposes. You can use food coloring for decorating, but if you have a store which caters to baking supplies, the powdered colors are better, because they don't change the consistency of the icing.

Amaretto Buttercream Frosting:

This recipe goes with Chocolate-Amaretto Heart

2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
3 tablespoons amaretto

Beat all ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth.

Yield: about 2/3 cup
