Yes, I do. Bichon Frise is the spelling.
Many people in the US see a white dog with curly hair and think it's a Bichon, when infact they are Poodle/terrier mixes. Pure bred Bichons are rare and they cost $1500, $2500 or more from a legitimate breeder of some merit.
The bichon is not French. In fact they first surfaced during the Ptolemic Egyptian era...Cleopatra was pictured with the dog. They were the dog of choice for European royality for centuries.
They are quite a bit thicker and sturdier than a toy poodle and yes, many of them used to hunt small game. I take mine for hikes in the woods and she will seek out and identify squirrel and chipmunks for me to shoot all day. They are very 'take charge', willfull and even beligerent and want things their way and make quite a fuss when they don't get their way, like many pure breds. Despite their size, they will fight and tangle with much larger dogs...they are courageous and can be fierce, unlike shy, cowering dogs like Maltese.
I never do the puffy hairdo.....I'm a big tough guy and that just wouldn't do. Mine always has her hair shorn close.
