Scalloped potatoes do NOT have cheese in the recipe! Au Gratin potatoes, on the other hand...

Scalloped potatoes are done with salt, pepper, a little onion and milk or heavy cream. All placed in the cooking dish and placed in the oven to cook, uncovered until the potatoes are tender. The starch from the potatoes will act as a thickening agent for the scalloped potatoes.

Au Gratin potatoes are cooked the same way, but in a cheese sauce.

Slice the potatoes, and some onions. Layer the potatoes and onions. In between the layers sprinkle: melted butter; flour; garlic salt; pepper; parsley. As you finish each layer pour some milk over it. When it's assembled, if the milk isn't about 2/3 up, add a bit more. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes.Test to make sure it's done. By the way, ReNate's recipe is for augratin potatoes, not scalloped.

Very easy! Use four good sized potatoes, peel them and slice them into very thin rounds. Place a layer of potatoes into a glass 9x9 baking dish. Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. Continue layering and sprinkling until all the potatoes are used up. Dot a little butter on top, and then dump 1 can of mushroom soup and half a can of milk on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes or so, depending on your oven. This is fast, easy and delicious. Have a great day!
