Doctors who work in Clinics and hospitals that perform abortions as well as deliver babies DO in fact do both...if they want to. If a doctor is pro-life and they work some place that does abortions (like many hospitals) they are not pressured or forced to do them, they just leave it to someone else.

Usually a ob/gyn dr. dont perform abortions unless its medically necessary like the mothers life is in danger or there is a defect with the baby where if the pregnancy was brought to full term the baby would die soon after or during delivery. which is very hard to deal with and nobody should have to go through that. Now the doctors that perform abortions because the person isnt ready or just dont want it are doctors u dont really know because they are probably very much unliked by society. I for one dont believe in abortion as a form of birth control. If u would of used a condom or birth control they wouldnt have gotten pregnant better yet keep ya legs closed.

I'm sure abortion doctors are trained in gynecological medicine, but I don't believe your regular OB/Gyn performs abortions. Seems to me that it would be the most discreet way to have an abortion, though. I wouldn't sweat whether a doctor is pro-life or not. I doubt they'd tell you anyway. Just look for a good doctor and stop listening to the paranoid zealots in your life.

well if your dr. is at planned parenthood or anywhere else abortions and ob/gyn services are performed yes. other than that you would have to ask the individual dr.

I don't think so. Not in most cases anyway.
I think in the case of medical need for an abortion, like endangerment to the mother or if something was wrong with the baby, then an OBGYN might do it, but if it is one of those "just b/c I don't want it" abortions, they would be referred to a clinic.
I don't agree with abortion anyhoo...

Usually they are separate doctors. But I'm sure there are some "doctors" who do both. The "doctors" who kill the babies are unethical enough to kill the helpless, so what's to stop them from taking profit from both sides? I don't consider abortionists doctors anyway, though. Isn't their first law, "Do no harm"? Just ask before you choose your OBGYN. Good Luck.

I don't know if that's true, but I think it might be. So sad that some babies come out of the doctor's office alive, and some don't come out at all.

we are trained to do both... i do both... being any sort of MD you have to set aside your personal feelings especially in an emergency situation regardless whether you're pro-choice or not. if a patient wants an abortion it's your duty to inform them with all the facts and risk.
80% women that miscrarry don't always pass the fetal tissue naturally, so we have to do a D&C to prevent infection.
