Yes, honey it's normal.
Any way you deal with the lose of your precious baby brother is normal.
Give yourself time to heal.
It would probably do you a world of good to talk to other people who have been where you are. I bet there is a support group or a hotline in your area that could help you. Call your family doctor or the local hospital. They will be glad to help you. If you have a church, talk to someone there. Just talk to someone who will listen to you.
Surround yourself with the people who love you. Your Mom may not be very supportive right now, but if you could multiply your pain by a thousand times...you might could begin to feel her pain. She's not going to be able to help you until she gets to a point where she can deal with this for herself.
Talk about him. Don't worry, you won't ever forget him, but the pain will eventually ease. You'll get to a point where a little twinge hits on the birthday and holidays, but you'll be able to look at his picture and smile instead of cry because you got to know him and love him while he was here.
Visit him and talk to him too.
If you find that the lack of sleep is starting to get to you, please talk to your doctor. This is normal too. You might need something to help you sleep for a little while. This too will be temporary. Just don't shut down and down let yourself get run down.
Little Brother would want to know you were taking care of yourself...wouldn't he?

Sorry to hear about the loss of your baby brother. There are many things that we as humans do during the grieving process including denial, anger, etc. When you have properly mourned the death of your little brother you will begin to feel better and sleep more soundly also. That's not to say that you should ever forget about him but you will need to get on with your life in a manner that you did prior to his death eventually. Some people grieve for longer periods of time than others so do not be ashamed of how you feel or what is happening. I do hope that you will soon have closure on the loss of your and that you can honour him in your way more effectively. Perhaps go and visit his gravesite and talk with him, let him know how much you loved and miss him and that will not forget him. This may allow you to move on with your own life better. My father passed away over 48 years ago and I have to admit that I do not remember him at all. But when things are either going badly or too good I go to visit his grave and let him know what is going on. I do not know if he hears any of the stories I relate to him but it makes me feel good so that is why I do so. Good luck to you.

You need time to heal after experiencing the death of a loved one. Time is important. You and your Mom must realize that healing may not occur in a day, week or month. Everyone is different. Although acceptance of loss varies, a person must take time to grieve.
It's only human to cry when grieving. Tears are natural. Crying is a healthy way to release the tensions, anxiety and sadness associated with loss.
Whether it's anger or sadness, learning to release emotions is essential in the healing process. Death is never fully accepted without releasing them.
Most importantly, you must remember to take care of yourself. Diet, rest and exercise sleep need to be maintained. Meditation, hot baths, massages and reserved quiet times will aide you in thinking and coping with the situation.
Sorry for you loss.

Everybody reacts differently to different situations. It will take some people longer to get over a death than others. It's ok to still be sad about the loss of your brother. I would suggest that you maybe talk to a guidance counsellor at your school or someone who can be understanding to your needs to help you through this difficult time in your life. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope that you will find someone to help you through.

if it bothers you, i would suggest talking to someone professionally about it. I'm not saying your crazy, but these things are VERY difficult to deal with. I still wake up hearing my daughter in the middle of the night... though there's no way since she passed away what will be 2 years ago on Christmas.
My sympathies, and best of luck working through the pain.

Everyone grieves in a different way. You're mom might think that by telling you to move on, it's her way of grieving. She might tell you to get over the death of your brother because when you grieve she is reminded of her loss too. As for a answer to your question, no I probably wouldn't sleep at all.

I too lost my brother, over 25 years ago. And you never forget about it. Time heals all wounds. You too will soon be able to sleep threw the night. Ask your parents if you can see a counselor, it will help.

I'm so sorry for your loss! Your mom is probably having just as hard a time as you are, but wants to be strong and wants you to be able to get on with your life, despite such a great loss. Maybe some family counseling would help you both deal with your feelings. Just an idea. *Hugs.*

Different people take different amounts of time to get over stuff like that, so don't feel like there's a certain time limit. On the other hand, if you can't stop thinking about him, or if it's interfering with your life, you should probably do something about it. Either way, you should talk more about your feelings with the rest of your family.
