I know what sites to visit - I am looking answers from personal experience.

I stayed at Hotel Rosita and would stay there again. Reason is that its not that big and the folks were pleasant and the room didn't' give you that Hospital room feeling. It front the Beach and is on the Start of the Boardwalk.

I spent time taking a bus tour around the city and it ended up at the Set of where the supposed to have filmed Predator - Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie. There is a restaurant there and you dine by a little mountain stream. While there you can do the Repelling thing if you like or swim in the stream...

There are many great places to eat. The 1 place I like was "El Panorama" a big hotel part way up the mountain that overlooks downtown and is nice to eat there at sunset they say you can see a Green color in the distance. You can eat right in the sand on the beach or there are many bar - restaurants facing the ocean along the boardwalk...

Also at night Street entertainment along the boardwalk and fireworks from the Pirate ship.

I stayed at the Grand Marival a couple of weeks ago. It sucked. Inedeble food, poorly upkept, and it was in Nuevo Vallarta which is a 30 min cab ride from the strip and $45 each way. The strip had everything from Hooters to Carlos and Charlies. The strip had performers working for tips, night clubs, and a gorgeous view of the ocean. You will enjoy the tourist traps, but dont book your room in Nuevo Vallarta, and Def dont stay at the Grand Marival.

Best hotels? they have a lot.. I love Mayan Palace (Nuevo vallarta or puerto vallarta) but you will find diferent choices.

Are you few? if you are a big family you can rent a house. there is a nice house at bucerias (in Vallarta) is a bed&breakfast type owned by a Canadian couple. this is their website.

I recommend to go to http://www.cntravler.com or http://www.fodors.com they list good hotels with prices and websites, restuarants, night life, shopping, and places to explore. Also I recommend using a vacation package so you can save money! Also look on http://www.tripadvisor.com for other peoples reviews on Puerto Vallarta.

I wouldn't go there, if you've been to Cancun you'll be highly disappointed!
