One of the things I am making for Christmas gifts is Homemade hot chocolate. I was thinking it might be nice to make a few different flavors and give everyone a basket with each with some mugs and marshmallows. But does anyone know how to add the flavoring or what would be good in it? I was thinking of using a bit of instant coffee for a mocha flavored one but what else?

you can always add whatever sounds good to you.
i suggest:

finely crushed peppermint candies,
finely crushed caramel or toffee candies,
instant coffee,
flavored powdered creamer,
cinnamon,
different flavored hot cocoa mixtures,
i've even had a coffee drink with slivered toasted almonds on the side... when you add them to a really hot drink, the almond oil makes it so aeromatic and amazing!

really... it's up to you!
be creative.

you also may want to consider adding some peppermint sticks to stir with and some grahm crackers or other complimenting treats.

enjoy.

It may sound odd, but adding a tiny pinch of chilli to the mix really works well...try it, it's original and a really nice flavour.

You could also add zest from a lemon, lime or orange to give it a slightly zingy, fruity taste. Dried cherries, chopped with walnuts again gives an interesting flavour.

What a thoughtful gift. Maybe check out the powdered drink recipes on line and see if that sparks your imagination. You could experiment with the flavored, dry creamers too. Perhaps hazelnut, amaretto and french vanilla?

I drink co-co at work all the time. Depending on my mood I would put in either 2 french vanilla or hazelnut or armeretto creamers. I like the french vanilla the best.

im not sure you can add much to that. If you did mix other stuff in then it wouldnt be hot chocolate anymore. It might actually taste kinda disgusting.. Try making different flavors like cherry or strawberry

Cinnamon, red hot candies, a dash of ground cayenne pepper, or orange zest.
