For Ephedrine? It's illegal for military members but not for civilians.

Will they be testing for ephedrine? Or just drugs like weed and coke?

It's a weight loss plant - ma haung.

Cocaine
Amphtamines, like MDMA
THC-canibus
H-heroin
The last one was added to the list because of the abundance of opiates in afghanistan.
There are also 10 other random tests that urine specimen goes through.
Ephedrine has caused the military numerous deaths. It is not recommended for soldiers to take diet pills and energy supplements containing it. They do not test for it though.

You may not get kicked out due to a drug test but mu huang, and other ephedra type drugs may cause behavioral\performance changes that will hurt your job. These drugs cause a temporary raise in heart rate, blood pressure, seeming to cause a lift in energy. However, they also can cause a drop in mental focus, you are nervous unable to concentrate well on any one thing for long. When the drug wears off, you are also physically exhausted from the heart rate increase all day, however you are too mentally alert to sleep well. Your physical limitations will also be lowered because you are already starting out at a higher pulse rate and when you do physical things, there is no room for much increase there. It can be very stressful to your heart and cause permanent arrhythmic changes, damage. Please show extreme caution or just do not risk it at all.

They'll put you in a substance abuse program if your commander feels you're worth it. I believe it's a 30 day program and if you are clean after that you can go back to your normal job. But I don't think they test for ephedra. So stop taking it. You're young and your body doesn't need it to keep the metabolism going. Are you over the weight limits? Or are you doing this for yourself? Anything worth doing to your body is worth doing right. Don't hinder it with sorry to say drugs like that.
Hopefully you won't be part of the random test when it comes around. So help yourself out and stop it. So you won't have to worry about throwing it all away because of what 10lbs. Not worth it.

not for ephedrine. however, a friend of ours was in a unit that banned soldiers from ordering weight loss and weight gaining supplements over the internet and having them mailed to iraq.

when i was in the navy, i had some friends pop positive for drugs and drugs that they didnt have a prescription for...their first offense either way, they went to see the Captain and he decided what to do next...1 guy went to a drug program provided by the navy, another was actually sent to rehab for 4 weeks..the Captain can have you reduced in rank and dock your pay for how ever many months....now if they continually pop positive they will get kicked out and get a dishonorable discharge

They do not check for ephedrine, they test for mj, cacaine, and things like that, the military just does not want us taking it because they do not want our hearts to explode while we are running!

usually they just test for pot and coke. and when i was in Iraq, I could've bought steroids off the haji's at the base sponsored haji shop, so i dont think they will care to much about ephedrine

I think so. I was in the National Guard and people got kicked out for continous drug use. Not on the first time caught.

yep, you will get the boot. Not only that, but they will take their time out-processing you. Had a buddy that was stupid enough to smoke pot and pop positive. The Navy took five months to kick him out. Just to make him suffer even more. Not to mention restriciton and extra duty.
