I think my car's transmission is going bad. I drive a 2000 Ford Mustang GT. It is a manuel. The engine is making a squeky noise, and it gets squiker when I push the clutch in. Does anyone know anyone in SAN DIEGO, CA, who works on mustangs? I can';t afford to take it to an expensive mechanic, I need someone who can help me out!

I ABSOLUTELY love it when all these people come on here to provide MISINFORMATION!!! If the squeaking noise gets louder WHEN THE CLUTCH IS DISENGAGED (clutch pedal pressed in), it means your PILOT BEARING has failed. I'm sorry to tell you, it's going to be costly, no matter what. To fix this problem is going to require removal of the transmission. You more than likely need an input shaft as well (which is ONE-PIECE with the input gear), if the noise is as bad as you describe. Just for your information, release bearings are common failures on those cars. But, that type of failure would be evident only when you hear the squeaking or whining type noise when the clutch pedal is RELEASED, or NOT pushed down (clutch ENGAGED, release bearing in operation making noise). High performance cars, cost high performance dollars!!!

Hi. Check the belts for cracks, try putting the transmission in neutral and push the clutch in and out. This should uncover a bad throwout bearing.

You have to go to a mechanic or you won't have a car for long. So no matter the expense just get it fix now.

if you have a clucht job done all those parts should be replaced...should being the key word.... pilot bearing or release bearing..the work involed is just about the same... depending on the miles on the car.. i would just do a clutch job... parts...about 200-250 and labor 250 or so...

it sounds like you have a bad release bearing for the clutch,if this is the case then the transmission will have to come out

im sorry lady it sounds like you in a bad position but unfortunately u bought a crappy car because most fords have these problems, my best advice to you would be to get rid of it before it cost you way more money then you have, if you like sports cars sell the mustang and buy yourself a camaro they have a lot less problems and parts are a lot cheaper. THATS OK GIVE ME THE THUMBS DOWN BUT I WAS JUST TRYIN TO WARN U ITS GUNNA BE YOUR PROBLEM IN THE END
