hot spots, could be caused by a number of allergy reactions....go to your local Groomer and see if they have any Hot Spot Shampoo. (follow the directions) you can also pick up the same kinds of shampoos from Vet Clinics and PetCo type stores. The shampoo is medicated and will help. The best thing to do is take the dog to your Vet and see what KIND of allergen is causing the problem.

Take him to the vet. Dont ever substitute third word advice for the professional opinion of a doctor. My beagle Mary had severe patches missing out of her fur when we came back from vacation, i thought the house sitter did something to her and I was pissed. She had a hereditary condition- mange brought on by stress. SHe never broke out before because she was spoiled rotten, she slept w/ my husband and I. She hated her kennel and she stressed her self out because she was stuck in there for 2-3 hours at a time and all night for five days.Ask his vet and they will be able to tell you exactly whats wrong, no second guessing.

Take him to the vet. It could be a number of different things. The vet can give you some medicine to spray on the spot and a dome to put around your dog's neck (possibly) to prevent him from bitting and scratching anymore.

It could be that he is having a reaction to shampoo etc. Many shampoos on the market contain toxic chemicals that irritate the sensitive skin on animals. Neways is a company that makes dog and cat shampoo free of these toxic chemicals - it is called Optimal Plus. It also has a skin moisturiser and hair detangler in it for an ultra luxurious pooch! You will not find this brand in retail stores though, you will need to find a distributor - I can help you with that...!

I think your pet is suffering from fungal infection. This is the right time to step into your vet's clinic. Actually it is a burning issue.
Cultural examination will reveal the causative agent. Your pet requires both oral and topical application for this condition.

It is hard to diagnose without actually seeing your dog. It could really be anything that you mentioned in your post or possibly even hot spots. I would take him in to see the vet, so he can be treated correctly right away without guessing.

the dog has a type of rash. My fathers Jack Russell has same thing. The vet will give your dog some cream cream and one of those thingys to go around his head so they cant lick it off.

Guessing doesn't help your pet. Take him to a vet, get a diagnosis. Than treat him.
