does the average person need potasium pills to supplement his intake of vitamins and minerals? How much is needed per day?

the average person does not need to take potassium pills..eating foods with good sources of potassium, such as bananas will help you if you are deficient

no, potassium is normal for most people. even if you use the OTC potassium supplements, they are absorbed well, and are very small doses. if you are on certain diuretics you may or may not need potassium. basically when you get a check-up ask for them to do blood work to check your potassium. normal potassium is 3.5-5 mEq/L in the blood. i am not sure what the RDA is, but most people need not worry. if your potassium is abnormal though there are prescription potassium products available to get you in the normal range. too much and too little potassium are both bad things, and can cause a variety of heart and other problems. just ask your doctor.

No. It's very dangerous to take too much potassium. Can cause heart failure. Do not take it unless your doctor has tested your potassium and has directed you to take a supplement---but ONLY if your potassium is abnormal.

If you are on water pills you need OJ, Banaa, Potassium supplements else you do not

IF YOU EAT BANANAS WHICH CONTAIN POTASSIUM AND A GOOD AMOUNT OF IT, THE AVERAGE PERSON WOULD NOT NEED TO SUPPLEMENT THEIR DIET WITH POTASSIUM TABLETS, UNLESS DIRECTED BY THEIR DOCTOR.
