Going out to dinner, or cooking a gourmet meal for your better half at home. All things taken into consideration, my choice is to cook at home. I find that about 80% of the time I feel "ripped off" in both the quality and price of a restaurant meal? Do you agree?

Nothing beats a home cooked meal. I love to cook, but hate cleaning up. I have a deal with my wife and daughter, I'll do ALL the cooking, but the clean-up is up to them. To me it sounds like a good deal. Also after 17 years of marriage my wife can only cook a can of soup on a good day!

If I could have the kitchen to myself all day and unlimited resources, a nice homemade dinner is the better of the two. But for a nice evening out after work, a quiet restaurant is preferable because if you've been at work all day, who wants to cook a gourmet meal? If you "shop" around, you'll find restaurants who don't rip you off in price or quantity or quality of the meal.

I would prefer to cook a gourmet meal and even better if the other half is cooking with you. It is a bonding experience and is fun when it is done and you can sit down together and eat something you made together. Besides you can control what you put in the food and the portions, you dont have any control over this when you go out to eat

I love to cook too, and I would enjoy making the meal at home, however I do enjoy to go out to eat occasionally. Sometimes it's nice to go somewhere and not have to worry about cooking and cleaning everything up afterwards. We only go to locally owned non chain restaurants though to avoid that ripped off feeling.

I agree with you. I always feel that I couldhave had a better meal at home. I love to hear my husband tell me that he's never had such a fine meal in any restaurant, and I know it's true. That being said however, sometimes it's just nice to get out of the house and have someone wait on you for a change.

I agree 100% with you. I feel like every restaurant is not up to my standards because I make dinner for myself so often.

I make gourmet meals and i enjoy cooking, especially when i get a good reaction to the food I have made.

I like to cook at home too as no one can cook as well as I can! HA! But sometimes we go out because I want to take a vacation from the kitchen. And we get good meals just not as good as I make them!

I like to cook a meal for my better half, because I love the reaction of Damn, that was good. Set the table nice, with a pair of candles, and a card with a love note, with a bottle of nice wine, makes the perfect dinner for my wife. She always enjoy it when I do that for her. By the way, she does the same for me too.

I agree.......I'd rather cook it at home. That way I know it was made with love. I'd rather eat something that someone who knew and cared about me cooked, then some guy in a kitchen who just wants to get off of work and hit the bar.

Yes! I always feel accomplished when I cook at home. And this way you have quality control. Better ingredients, less fat, etc. Sure, going out to eat is nice on a special occassion, but an intimate dinner with spouse/family is always better.
