According to baby shower etiquette:
Baby showers are normally given anywhere between the seventh and ninth month. You don't want to have the party too close to the due date just in case she delivers earlier than expected. But, at the same time, its fun when she has a large belly at the party, so don't host it too early. Check with the mom to see what works for her.

I would give the shower about 2 months before the baby is due, that way the mom isnt to uncomfortable and can still get around. It also gives the mom to be time to figure out what she still needs more of, that way she has time to buy it up. I just gave a baby shower last week and the baby is due in January. Check out web sites for diaper cakes, they are really cute and make a great centerpiece. I made my own and is really inexpensive.

I have always been told not to have a baby shower until the woman is at least 7 to 8 months pregnant.

I had mine when I was 7 months. I think in the 7th or 8th month is the best time. The mom to be is close but not to the point where she could go into labor during or before the shower.

Usually in the 8th month (if it's the first baby). But most times with a 2nd or 3rd baby the shower is after the baby is born.

The 6th or 7th month is good because it's far enough along that the baby should be ok, you might know the sex, and it's early enough to give her time to still buy what she doesn't get from the shower.

I had 4 scheduled for the 8th month but my twins came the 7th month so I had 1 while they were still in the NICU, 2 when they were 3 months old and I am having my 4th one next weekend and the twins are 5 months old now.

usually 8 months! If you don't know what you are having wait until after the baby is born not only do you get gender specific things but you can let everyone meet baby at once to save all those unexpected visits!
