Mr. Kick - This would be an interesting bout. Does it take place in the U.S. or in England? If in England Jermain would have to fight the referee and judges also, might be a tough mountain to climb since I wouldn't see Taylor knocking him out. If fought at a neutral site I think Taylor has the skill to win a split decision over Calzaghe. Joe is tough he would get inside and get his shots in. Jermain would use his height and reach advantage and would look to hurt Calzaghe (he would be unsuccessful). Taylor would land enough clean blows to scrape by. Good match up, maybe we'll see it in the future, but I doubt it. Joe doesn't like to fight outside of England and Taylor would be crazy to fight him over there.
a_p_ - The Euros need to come over here and mix it up without the bias of English and Euro refs and judges. In reference to Taylor's last 3 fights; those were close tough decisions there was no obvious bias by referees or judges. Throw some video in of Joe and Ricky fights. How many of 'em are refereed by Vans. How much illegal tactics do they get away with, without penalty when he's in the ring (check out Tszyu/Hatton). Do your research, there is a difference between controversial (Taylor's last 3 fights), and blatant favoritism.

Sometimes I think I should answer questions like soldierofyah7's

This is an excellent question. I believe that, if this match were to take place anywhere in the world outside of the United States, Joe Calzaghe would take it. In my opinion he would take initiative right from the opening bell, power forward and press the action throughout the fight. He's a tremendous boxer and he'd be more then competent to close Taylor down, get inside and put his shots through. Taylor is awesome, no doubt, and he would definitely give him a hell of a resistance here, but in the end I think that Calzaghe's work load would start to be a bit too difficult for him to handle and enough to get Joe a unanimous decision.

Some of us seem to have a very selective memory when it comes to this matter. Brent and Santana are apparently concerned that the poster boy might get ripped off if he were to come to England and take Joe on there. But let me ask you people, what exactly do you expect that it would happen if things were the other way around? If I were, for instance, to put terms like bias refereeing and Jermain Taylor in the same sentence would that ring any bells? Do you not recall how he got to become the world champion and how he held his belts so far? This man most definitely lost two out of his last three fights (probably even that second one against Hopkins, but I suppose we could call that controversial) and he was awarded two wins and a draw for his trouble. The fact is that getting a decision against Jermain Taylor in United States is obviously an impossible thing to do, no matter how well deserved it may be, even for American boxing superstars. So it's really hard to see what chances Joe would have of doing this and if this match ever does happen it should definitely take place somewhere on the neutral ground.

p.s.
Santana, what are you talking about?! I'm not attacking anyone here, there is no hostility! I just don't agree with you, that's all. And I'm certainly not trying to take anything away from Mr. Kick's question. It was a great question and I answered it the best I could. Relax man.

This would be a good fight I hope it happens.
I think the Calzaghe that beat Lacy would also beat Taylor. Calzaghe is very strong and fast and not sure if Taylor could hold up. Although Taylor did enough to beat Hopkins. The more I think about it the tougher call it is. Still I lean to the experience, speed and power of Calzaghe.

Mr. Kick ~
My Compadre' Brent nails it. You could bet your left foot that if this fight were fought in England, Micky Vans would be the Referee and Jermain would have two opponents to worry about.
Besides Lacy who has Joe fought? Now he's talking about Peter Manfredo. Who the heck has Peter Manfredo fought that Joe even thinks if he beats this bum all eyes will open and be in agreement with all of England that he is "Great" another handpicked opponent for the English.

You're barking up the wrong tree here. I wrote to you before about making things personal and you are up to it again.Lets just say for the sake of a writing arguement that we agree to disagree. There's not on e fighter from England or all of Europe in the past 30 years that is "Great" or very good, they're just okay and nothing special, except to a bunch of people who wouldn't know true greatness if it hit them with a Marco Antonio Barrea left hook. Remember Barrera? He's the one who drove "The Great" Hamed head first into the corner.
Calzaghe looks like any fighter from the Midwest in the United States, in his last fight he was getting hit by an absolute nobody so much his head kept going back like a Pez Despenser. Hatton he's another one that all Europe was hailing as "Great" until his shalacking by Callazo. The list of European fighters that are "Great" by Europes standards is long and not very distinguished.
And if you thought that Taylor lost any of his fights to Hopkins, then that explains the extent your boxing knowledge.
Mr Kick asked a very good question here, why would you want to take away from this persons question? Ask your own questions on your time.

Sorry Mr. Kicks.

Bernard Hopkins time has come and long previous. His days as a practicable contender little lone a Champion have been over for varied years. Kelly Pavik via knock out to self-compliment his boxing checklist with a win over a former very stable fighter.

I think Calzaghe will do to Taylor what he did to Lacy.
