I would take it as a compliment if someone were to insult me like that. Just shows their jealousy and how insecure they are. tsk tsk. children.

Why do people lie about other people's religion? Like saying totally idiot things like Muslims worship a moon god, beat their women, get 72 virgins, are all terrorists, yadda yadda yadda?

Because they are morons. Have fun picking on them. I do. mwa ha ha ha!!

Before you can ask "Why?", you must first ask the "What?".

Do people lie about other people's religions, even though they do not know them?

They certainly appear to do so at times.

Why?

One reason is that all of us are sinners and lying is just one of many sins we are guilty of from time to time.

In the area of religion, leaders of false religions teach lies by trade so one would expect them to teach others to lie as well.

So in most cases, the only source of information someone has about your religion is the leader of their religion.

So let's say I follow religion A and you follow relgion B.

For most followers of relgion A, the only things they know about religion B is what a leader of religion A has taught them.

Most followers of religion A have not purchased and read the books containing the official teaching of religion B.

So when person a of religion A discusses religion with person b who follow religion B, since neither a or b have studied the other religion's book, they will both only have knowledge taught to them about the other religion by the teachers of their own religion.

So a and b will both think the other person is lying.

Yet a and b both believe they are telling the truth.

Since I discuss religion with people of many religions I have purchased and have read the source docements containing the beliefs of many different religions.

For example I own and have read the Bible, the Docements of Vatican II and the Roman Catholic Cathechism.

So when I discuss things with a Roman Catholic I know exactly what their church teaches. And I have often found that they don't.

I also own a copy of the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and Doctrines and Covenents. And I've read them. So when I discuss the teaching of the LDS or Mormon Church, I know exactly what their teaching is and again many times I find they don't know what their own religion teaches.

So in conclusion I believe that while occasionlly people lie, more often than not they are telling you what they really believe is the truth. They do this because it is what they have been taught.

Which is why I read the official text of all major religions of the world so that I can intelligently discuss them.

And why I encourage others to do the same.

For non Christians I encourage them to read the 66 books of the Bible for themselves and not rely on the leaders in their own religion to tell them what Christianity teaches.

A Muslim Cleric was recently ordered by his Emir to read the Bible and at first this Cleric refused. But he reluctantly obeyed. You see his Emir wanted him to write a book which would dis prove the Bible once and for all.

I've seen the video about this and I've included a link so you can watch it too.

The audio is in Arabic, but the video contains English sub-titles.

If you are to convert to another religion it is your choice, but if that religions teachings go against the teachings in any way of the one true God, then you have to ask yourself who will God really punish here. Christ changed the world with his teachings, he was given a wisdom that could only come from divine intervention, but man thought himself more worthy and broke away from the path Christ laid out for all men, we all have a choice here, we can stick with the one true prophet Jesus Christ,or we can also break away and follow those that make up their own prophesy it's that simple.

Does this person, or people that are saying this to you believe that a person has to be born muslim in order to truly be called or considered to truly be muslim ?

I would say, do not hate or despise them.

Simply, pray for them. Pray that they would have clear, proper understanding.

I know many that have converted to Islam, that were atheists and also from other religions.
All people converting to islam, which are now muslims are True holy Muslims. Be at rest, assured of that.

Your example isn't clear to me, but sometimes people make assumptions or say things about religions that they have heard or read somewhere without really knowing for sure. The word "convert" has a meaning. If you are using it to say something about yourself apart from that meaning, that would cause people to argue with your use of the word.

Much better.

It is wrong to lie, but the person may just not believe you. I don't know the debate going on but if they are intentionally lying then that is not acceptable in Christianity. i can't say that God will punish them now but on judgment day all actions are accounted for.

Ps: the person you seek was suspended.

Maybe, which religion are you a convert of?

If christian: yes, i believe there's a passage.
if Muslim: considering all those passages detailing how to be overly nice to people who "just found the path", i wasn't aware questioning conversion was even much of a religious option.

if another religion, i have no idea.

It is not considered a lie to disagree with another. The other person could just be ill informed, and may not have enough empirical data to make and intelligent statement on a subject.

Allah or Jesus?

By Rick Mathes

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths who explained their belief systems. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say.

The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn I directed my question to the Imam and asked: Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"

There was no disagreement with my statements and without hesitation he replied, "Non-believers!"

I responded, So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to heaven. Is that correct? The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, Yes.

I then stated, Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Pat Robertson or Dr. Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to heaven! The Imam was speechless.

I continued, I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question-would you rather have your Allah who tells you to kill me in order to go to heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and wants you to be with me? You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

Chuck Colson once told me something that has sustained me these 20 years of prison ministry. He said to me, Rick, remember that the truth will prevail. And it will!

Because it's fun to argue. It's fun to be on the apposing side of things...even if you don't really believe what you're saying to be true.
