my dog does too. He is always grinning when we play with him and he sometimes makes these weird snuffly sounds and buries his head in the sofa.
Cats though I don't know about. Mine is very affectionate but generally cats are too aloof to pay attention to their stupid owners and they certainly would never laugh!
Remember dogs have owners but cats have staff! lol

I can't find a link to give you; but dogs do laugh. Scientists discovered that one type of panting is equivalent to a laugh. The dogs in the study only did it when they were playing and having fun.
Bully for them, dog owners have known that for years.
I've never met a cat that laughed, but some of them do seem to get a kick from teasing dogs.

Ok well I have 2 lurchers and one of them is a bit miserable but the other one is sooo happy most of the time, and I don't know about laughing but she does smile alot. And in addition to that there is a Dog that goes in my local pub that actually grins its amazing to watch he shows all his teeth.

My lab used to have this big grin on his face when he'd play tag or hide & seek with me! I miss him!!!

My cat doesn't really grin/laugh, but he definitely looks content quite a bit.

I dont know if dogs laugh out loud, but if they do or dont- either way, I'm sure they laugh inside.
I've never heard my Roxy laugh, but she certainly has a grin on her face when she sees me come home, play with her, take her to the park, cuddle her, or give her one of her favorite treats. :)

Of course they do, every time we run round pampering to their every whim, they are laughing their paws off at us, my dog has this daft grin and curls her lip just like Elvis.

Good question! I know for a fact that dogs smile AND laugh, I don't know about cats though!

My old dog used to smile when he farted! Probably at our reaction to his utterly rank smell........

some dogs have smiley faces! ^_^ but my dog seems to laugh and smile (she isn't a smiley dog) when she gets hyper , and my other dog is a basset hound so she always looks sorry for herself! lol
