Rosh Hashonah is the Jewish New Year
Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement
Sukkot is the Feast of Booths. One of the Shalosh R'galim (three pilgrimage festivals). A festival commemorating the wandering in the desert and the final harvest. Also known as the Feast of Tabernacles or the Festival of Ingathering.
Simchat Torah means "Rejoicing in the Torah." This holiday marks the completion of the annual cycle of weekly Torah readings.
Shavuot is the Feast of Weeks. One of the Shalosh R'galim (three pilgrimage festivals), a festival commemorating the giving of the Torah and the harvest of the first fruits.
Pesach is Passover
Holiday commemorating the Exodus from Egypt. The holiday also marks the beginning of the harvest season.
Purim means lots (as in "lottery"). A holiday celebrating the rescue of the Jews from extermination at the hands of the chief minister to the King of Persia.
Chanukkah is the festival of lights, commemorating the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after a successful revolt against the Selucid Greeks. It's my favorite holiday!
Tu B'Shevat: Jewish Arbor Day
Tisha B'Av: Means the 9th day of the month of Av. A fast commemorating the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem and other tragedies.

Channukah - Dedication (not a biblical holiday)

Pesach is Passover
Shavuoth means weeks, and it celebrates the giving of the Torah to the Jewish nation. (G-d appeared to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai).
