A deep cleaning is when the Dentist or Hygenist removes plaque which has crept under the gum line this causes your gums to receed if not removed and could lead to nasty abscess by food being trapped in the pockets.

a deep cleaning is not always covered by insurance so be careful. if you were going to the dentist every six months for cleanings you shouldnt have to have that. it must have been a sh**ty dentist. just make sure its covered because it can be a much as 800 per quad and there are 4 quads in your mouth hopefully they explained to you about periodontal disease and why you need this done and how to prevent it in the future

she wanted to know when your last cleaning was. If you got one done 6 months ago youl have to do it again. Deep cleaning is just when the dentist professionally cleans your teeth using special tools that penetrate deep into the gum line.

a deep cleaning gets up further under your gums. your mouth has to be numbed for this as it is very rigorous.
