Rosh-Hashana is the Jewish new year, and Passover is when the Jewish people became an independent nation. This is why some refer to the month of Nisan (when Passover occurs) as the first, and not the seventh month of the Jewish year.

as others said Passover is not the Jewish new year.

but their is more than one type of new year. The Talmud in the beginning of Rosh Hashona identifies four different kinds of new years.

one of them being the start of the month of Nissan, The month that Passover falls in. It is the new year of the calender and kingship. That is why in The Bible Passover falls out on the 14th day of the first month.

No. However, be aware of something; the secular year starts at 'Rosh Hashannah' (Sept.- Oct) time frame. However, the religious year starts about 15 days before Passover..

rosh ha shana is the new year,pessach is a time to refleck.when the jews fled from pharoah.we eat matza unleavend bread.in this holy time,from mikhal in israel.
