Sounds to me like, given your age and stats, that you could *easily* lose the remainder of the weight just by lifting a bit more weight, perhaps doing a bit more ab work to tone up the gut....

And by cutting the carbs from your diet. Really. It's been shown that muscle burns more calories at rest than fat does, and you have this much right so far, it seems. But in terms of weight loss, diet changes work a bit more quickly than doing cardio, too much of which can actually tear down muscle.

So yeah, I'd say lift a little bit more, do abs and lower back work (core exercises, low resistance, high reps, for compact muscle tone and stability). And tweak your diet a *little* bit, don't starve yourself...but maybe trim out the soft drinks. Switch from white breads to *whole grains* (think *fiber* not sugar). Get some of the simple carbs out of your diet.

And give it some time, if you lose it in a month, you could as easily re-gain it in a week....better to take 3 months and have it be permanent, right? ;)

Also keep in mind that not everyone *has* a flat or concave (dipped in) abdominal wall...some folks will tend to only get, at best, either flat abs, or what some call "linebacker abs" or an 8-pack that *bows out* slightly. This doesn't have to be a problem, if the rest of you is in shape and proportionate, it won't matter so much.

So yeah, in other words...you seem to be doing fine doing what you are doing, and you still seem quite young and healthy, so don't go and do any *huge changes* that you cannot *sustain* for the long haul. It isn't worth it, not yet. ;)

Here's the deal...
If you tweak your eating habits (eating healthier, more frequently, say 5-6 meals a day) you will see yourself losing weight (mostly water). But if you ADD that with exercise, it will be a HUGE help. You will lose fat way faster. And cardio is a MUST if you are trying to burn off fat right away. I myself am not a huge fan of running, so I try to do 45 minutes on the treadmill 4 times a week, and mix in an aerobics class sometimes (so that I don't get bored). Once you drop your water weight, you will start to build muscle and trust me, the feeling is GREAT!!!
Do not lose hope. It IS hard to lose weight but if you are wanting to really do it and are disciplined, you can do it!

Maceo, Right now your body mass index is at 25 which puts you as overweight. losing up to 20 pounds would put you at 22. You could also lose 10 to 15 pounds and still be at a healthy BMI. With cardio you should do a combination of longer sessions(30-45 min) with one or two sessions a week of interval training at 20 min.(hard for 2 min, easy for 1 min.) Use of variety of machines or cardio exercises. Also include your resistance training which focuses on lifts with large muscle mass. Working your abs be sure to work all of the muscles(front and obliques.) Eating of course choose healthy meals. Protein increase to 1 gr. per lb. of body weight(you would consume 170 grams of protein.) Good luck!!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

its impossible to loose 5 pounds in a week and keep it off. it must be hard because you have an injury, but you can still do excercises. instead of run, walk. instead of play tennis, swim. there are many alternatives that you can probably do for cardio because you need more than a balanced and healthy diet to loose weight. think about it, if you ate 1000 calories today, but you didnt do any cardio and didnt burn any calories...that 1000 calories is still in you. to burn that off..and loose that weight you have to burn more than 1000 calories(1 pound=3,500 calories) if you eat more than you excercise, it is still fine, u just wont gain as much weight as you may have been before. if you excercise more than you eat, than ull loose weight

its complicated... when dealing with muscular build the bottom line lies in your genetics. some people can build their group of muscles up MUCH faster than another. the other side to that is for some people must work 10x harder than others to get similar results.
for the gut area, it is hard to tell how much you would have to lose. depends how much body fat there in around your abdomen. cardio would be the best/healtiest way to lose the weight. i would say design your workouts to focus 80% on your abdomen mucsles. dont forget about your other muscles or you'll loose the current muslce tone.
