Yes they do, in fact older cars register mileage when being towed. Newer cars with digital odometers require that the ignition switch be turned on.

The short answer is yes. Unless I am totally mistaken, and I don't think that I am, the odometer does not depend upon the accelerator being activated, not does it depend upon the rate of acceleration. It is connected via cable to the trans axle; therefore, as the vehicle moves, the odometer registers the distance traveled. In addition, placing over sized tires/wheels on a vehicle can alter the accuracy of both the odometer and the speedometer.

YES. Mileage is calculated by the number of tire turns, not by the amount of gas. This is why it is never good to have the wrong size tires on a vehicle, as it not only throws off miles traveled, but also throws off speedometer, which can get you a speeding ticket!

Yes the odometer is not a part of the foot feed it is a part of the transmssion and works all the time except some autos it dosent work in reverce thanks
