My scalp gets super sensitive to the heat from a blow dryer and I usually don't dry my hair. As its got longer though it just kind of dries pretty lifeless. I am going for a trim/re-style this weekend and when they said about a cut and blow dry, I said I didn't want it blow dried. They said that they could put me under a dryer instead because the heat is more gentle.

Is this true? And my other question is - do they always have to curl your hair when you go under a dryer or can they just dry it normal under a dryer?

if they don't roll your hair before you get under the dryer you won't get much body. the heat if it is on low isn't as intense, but is still is blowing hot air. it is more gentle as blow dryers get so hot but doing it in sections usually eliminates constant heat on the scalp, where when you are sitting under the hood that heat is consant all over. maybe you need to look at getting shampoos and conditioners that will help improve and keep your scalp from drying out as much, if that is your problem.

The heat is more gentle and they would not have to curl your hair although they may need to put your hair on top of your head so that it all can feel the heat and dry.

Yes - this is true about the hood dryers being gentle. I often find myself 'dozing' off when I am under while having color done.

i think it is more gentle, but just remind them and for the curl on your hair tell them you don't want any and you are the boss of your own hair not them..
