actually no, he should be able to renew his tag with no drivers license, they are not nomally connected.

And it will vary from state to state and department to department,
AT ours, there was a towing fee about 150 dollars or so, and an impound fee of about 100 dollars and so. And then a daily storage fee for every day it is stored.

Well in my city you have to pay the city to get it back then all the towing fees. The fee here just to the city is $525 then you show proof of insurance and registration. Then you get a piece of paper that says you can get the car from the towing company. The initial tow is no less than $265 then $35 per day. If they picked up the car at 1158pm then you go to get it at 8am you have 2days worth of storage fees to pay besides the tow fee and the city fee. Even if your car gets stolen you have to pay both of these fees. Then you have to see if the insurance agency will reimburse you. If not enough insurance then of course it is no. I know first hand. I had liability insurance and the ex husband came and stole my car and I have to pay for everything for it. I didn't and still don't have the money for it so I just have no car and the police didn't charge him with it since they already had other warrants on him that would give him more time.

the fee vareis from place to place, some are $80 per night some are $180. it all depends, and they probably will not give it to u with an expired tag, u will prolly have to go get a new one before u can get it out.

Well I hope they do not have a hold on it that means to hold it as evidence.

You know your boy friend could cost you everything if he wrecks your car, the fee should be or likely be regulated by the State PSC or PUC, look into the rates if they exist and that will help you find out what the bill should be.

Impound is expensive. Buddy of mine just paid $1500 for an overnight hold.
I don't think they'll release with expired tags...BTW...I believe they can auction it after 30 days to pay for fees.

well without insurance or a license you can't get it out...you'll have to wait till he has those things...plus you will have to pay storage at the compound where it's being held..probably $40.00 a day plus the tow, that could be very expensive......you can always pay the tow and sign over the van...
Your boyfriend is not very smart...

200 bucks, but if the tags are expired I doubt it is going anywhere until he gets a temporary registration on it,

relies upon if ur trailblazer has a V6 and ur attempting to tow like 3500 shipment van, hell no reason u might want to ruin the tranny in trailblazer and set u decrease back about $6000. yet when it replaced into V8 and a shipment van or smaller absoulutely. its all about the length of the tow and the length of the engine u have.
