Hartwell is just south of I-85, near the boarder with South Carolina It's about 100 miles to the ENE of Atlanta.

Hartwell is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in northeast Georgia, on Lake Hartwell. This gives us some of the finest scenery and living conditions in the U.S. Approximately 110 miles from Atlanta, 65 miles from Greenville, South Carolina and 125 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, Hartwell is close to everything. Ty Cobb was from Royston, GA, not Hartwell.

About 100 miles NE of ATL on I-85. It sits on Lake Hartwell, which is right on the border of GA, and SC. Towns nearby include Anderson, SC and Clemson University. Supposed to be a nice little town to go boating and relaxing.

Extremely close to the SC border, Lake Hartwell straddles the border, i believe.
Also near Ty Cobb's home town
