I saw a video you Youtube, in which a stock Dodge Viper outran a fighter jet on a 1/4 mile test track (both the Viper and the jet took off from the starting line at the same time). I don't know a lot about cars but that seems pretty impressive to me.

A new Viper costs approximately $80,000. Are there any stock production cars that are faster than the Viper at around the same (or lower) price range? I'm talking straight off the showroom floor, not something that has been modified with nitrous, etc.

And could a sport motorcycle such as a Hayabusa outrun a Viper? I didn't think a car could outrun a cycle, but after seeing the Viper outrun a fighter jet, maybe it's possible?

Those test track things are pretty impressive to watch,
but it just takes longer for a fighterjet to get up to speed than it does a viper.

The viper has a v-10 engine, which is not available in most sports cars....
Ones with a v-10 are
The Lamborghini Gallardo
BMW M5 sedan
and
The Volkswagen Phaeton and Volkswagen Touareg (they are turbo diesel)
I may be missing one or two,
but I don't beleive any of them are less expensive than a Viper.

A stock Hayabusa has a governor that does not permit it to go over 186 MPH. We had a customer who traded a stock viper who insisted that he had gotten over that,
but he was a bit of a BSer....

A new vette will outrun a viper for less money. For a lot less money the Hayabusa will spank them both. Fighter jets (there are many kinds) don't have tremendous acceleration on the ground, so yes the drag race favors the car that is built for it. If the race had been over say a mile the jet would have been going 300 miles an hour though so they probably picked the one race the car could win.

Check out the youtube video of BigRed a diesel truck that spanks all sports cars in the quarter mile.

The Corvette is cheaper and can do it. As far as outrunning a fighter jet, that's not overly impressive when you consider the size difference in the vehicles. A fighter jet carries more weight in fuel alone than a Viper weighs. In addition, you're comparing thrust acceleration to wheel driven acceleration.

As far as a motorcycle, it can easily outrun a car. Again, the weight plays a big factor.

A viper is a very impressive car. But in all fairness, i saw a corvette beat a fight jet as well, and this was several years ago.

the new z06, ford gt, and several others are faster than a stock viper.

As far as value though, the new z06 is the only car faster for the same or less money.

A jet has much more mass than a Viper and is not able to get going from a dead stop as quickly. However, once they are moving the viper doesn't stand a chance.

relies upon what type of race you're talking approximately. you're evaluating an 3.2L inline 6 vs an 8.3 V10 it somewhat is like evaluating a pedal motorbike to a motor motorbike. So its little doubt that the viper will pull on the M3 except the M3 has an HPF degree 3 quicker setup. around the song, possibly the m3 has an earnings pondering it has an greater potential to weight ratio then the viper. i might take an E46 M3 anyday over the viper tho
