in addition to my previous question, He had so much compation for sinners, because He knew, He really knew what they where going through?

Well, yes.

Up 'til that point, God the Father could love us from above, but not from beside. That is, the one thing that God the Father didn't know from the inside was sin. Because he is perfect, he never sinned, nor was he ever tempted. And yet by sending his Son to earth, who was man and God, he gained the experience of being tempted to sin. Remember when Satan tempted Christ three times after Christ's 40 days of fasting in the desert. This was the first time that God was ever tempted to sin.

This is how God's mercy--or what you call compassion--was born. This is how he came to know what it was like to be human. And so, yes, this is how he came to be compassionate for those of us in the flesh who sin against him.
