I don't know what sureshot649 is talking about and I don't think he does either. Cell phones are NOT allowed in BCT. Neither is candy, over the counter meds or anything else like that. The only thing you can have are basic toiletries. Everything else, the Army will provide for you.

Since you're a female, I can't tell you exactly what to expect. We don't have females do BCT here. However, I can tell you what the men go through. It'll be 9 weeks from start to finish, maybe a little longer if you have to stay at Reception for very long. It will be very physically demanding. You will be required to pass a PT test. You'll learn to work as a team. You'll have NBC training and First Aid. You'll learn hand to hand combat and bayonet training as well as your weapons qualification and marksmanship. The Drill Sergeants will yell and push you as hard as they can. What they teach you are the basics for staying alive. Listen to them, trust your battle buddy and rest as much as you can.

No, BCT isn't as tough as when my hubby joined, but they'll still test you and push you beyond what you think you can do. Stay alert and do what you're told. Write home when you can and don't be afraid to take advantage of attending church services on Sunday.

Good luck!!

They do not train you how you can shoot handguns, they train you how you can shoot an M16A2, that's an attack rifle that shoots five.fifty six mm NATO rounds. It's honestly toward a shot gun so far as measurement is going, than a handgun/individual aspect arm an M1911 could be a handgun. There are a few situations wherein you're legal a individual aspect arm whilst deployed, however it's not side of the normal coaching, nor do such a lot provider contributors ever use them. You do not have got to fear an excessive amount of approximately no longer realizing how you can shoot an M16, as they are going to train you whilst you get there. In reality, the fewer you realize whilst you move there, the fewer paintings it takes to proper all of your unhealthy taking pictures conduct. I recognise folks who've long past to fundamental without a revel in and are available again really informed. My possess husband went to MCRD San Diego with out ever having shot a gun, and got here out with an proficient marksman ranking.

8 1/2 weeks of physical training. It won't be anywhere near as stressful as it used to be, nor as Marine boot camp is. Drill Sergeant's aren't supposed to yell at you as much anymore, you can have cell phones, and discipline is relatively lax. You're allowed to eat as much food as you want at chow time and if you talk back, you probably won't get into very much trouble. And when you do combat exercises, they won't force you to actually jump off the back of the truck, because that might result in you hurting your ankle, thus DQing you from graduating on time. You'll also be surrounded by people DQed from the other services, either for physical, mental, or academic limitations. Have fun joining the mediocre of the military!
