Romance isn't dead. Some people hate being romantic when they are in public due to their shyness because, unfortunately, nowadays if you're romantic outdoors you will be judged as a softy (...guys are more concerned than girls about this). I don't see any harm in some romance once in a while.
Another reason is that both men and women are afraid of being romantic just in case they get hurt by their partner in the future so they tend to take things slowly before they blurt out their true feelings to one another.
So do we all believe that romance is dead or on a life support? If someone is searching for love rather than the odd date, then romance isn't dead at all.

Yes....I believe the grim reaper has already taken romance from the human race. Cynical maybe....but it may be a true statement. Although your theory about romance being on life support may be accurate....but that means it only has a limited function. And I hope playing games and causing drama is not the 'new romance' as that would really suck wouldn't it? There are plenty of games being played and I have found that guys seem to like the drama--maybe out of sheer boredom. LOL

Romance isn't dead. (well, at least for my husband and I) It does take a level of maturity to engage in romance that goes beyond the norm (candy, flowers, jewelry). I've had past relationships where men have told me that they aren't romantic. I think that some men and women find it easier to just do the normal things that society calls "romantic" instead of putting in effort and hard work. Romance isn't a game, it's beauty and love in it's natural form. My husband used to be unromantic, as we got more in tune with each other he began to really understand the way to my heart. It takes alot of trial and error, hard work and effort to be original, authentic and heartfelt. We've been together for 4 years and everyday I find another reason why I love him. We appreciate the simple things in life and make even the most horrible days end happily.

I agree with you, is romance dead?
Well, fortunately, for me it sure isn't....but I see romance as so many things....a surprise kiss and hug...a snuggle on the couch....holding hands....a nite away from the kids....
I think romance is what we make it now, and not what we read. I do honestly believe that society today has taken a critical fall towards the gimmes and that is a shame...it seems today that alot of people believe that the more they have the better, and the more you can screw someone over the better.....there is no love, its only lust or hate.
I also think that people aren't trusting anymore, so when gifts or love is given, there is suspicion and wariness, which also kills the romance. Who wants to give a gift when there is expectations or demands on it, or suspected?
Sad really.
I am truly grateful for the man in my life, he has given to me his heart, and romances me, and I to him as well. Its great fun, and is really good for our relationship.

I completely agree with you.....I had an altered, false idea of what real romance even was..after having been told for years that I lived in my own world with unrealistic expectations of people and love and romance. I finally met the man that has shown me what real romance is about and how wonderful it is. People thrive on drama now, negative drama, what about the positive romantic kind in the movies, the kind that my husband and I share.

To be honest I think romance has been left in the movies and that real life is just competition to get their first and then to hold on to what you have from being taken away. And there is always the common factor of wondering if something better is out there.

I don't think YA will think this is violated. It's fine with me. I agree with what you're saying here 100%. I think romance needs to be revived. Perhaps a lot of people don't believe in it.

I believe we need to bring it back to life, and you are just the guy to do it! If you start, get your friends too, you could start the trend! Then the next thing you know, it is back and we'll have you to thank! My hero!
