The term "bible" came from the Greek Biblia meaning books.

The word "Bible" refers to the canonical collections of sacred writings of Judaism and Christianity.

Judaism's Bible is often referred to as the Tanakh, or Hebrew Bible, which includes the sacred texts common to both the Christian and Jewish canons. The Christian Bible is also called the Holy Bible, Scriptures, or Word of God. The Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Old Testament canons contain books not found in the Tanakh, but which were found in the Greek Septuagint.

More than 14,000 manuscripts and fragments of the Hebrew Tanakh exist, as do numerous copies of the Septuagint, and 5,300 manuscripts of the Greek New Testament, more than any other work of antiquity.

The Roman Catholic Church or Catholic Church is the Christian Church in full communion with the Bishop of Rome, currently Pope Benedict XVI. It traces its origins to the original Christian community founded by Jesus, with its traditions first established by the Twelve Apostles and maintained through unbroken Apostolic Succession.
The Church traces its institution to Jesus and the Twelve Apostles, in particular Saint Peter, the leader of the Apostles, who is regarded as the first Pope. The first known use of the term "Catholic Church" was in a letter by Ignatius of Antioch in 107, who wrote: "Where the bishop appears, there let the people be, just as where Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church."
Central to the doctrines of the Catholic Church is Apostolic Succession, the belief that the bishops are the spiritual successors of the original twelve apostles, through the historically unbroken chain of consecration . The New Testament contains warnings against teachings considered to be only masquerading as Christianity, and shows how reference was made to the leaders of the Church to decide what was true doctrine. The Catholic Church teaches that it is the continuation of those who remained faithful to the apostolic and episcopal leadership and rejected false teachings.

The Bible in Greek means "Books" Which is why you don't see the word Bible in the assembly of the Books. The Pope speaks many times about the Gospels and the inspired men that wrote them.

Uh.

Because Jesus didn't write the Bible. It was written by other men, supposedly disciples like Mark, so the parts they wrote are referred to as their gospels. It would only be the Gospel of Jesus if he wrote it.

You mean, why can't the pope say "Peace be upon him"? It's not our way. And there is no Gospel of Jesus. The teachings of Jesus were recorded by four men, Matthew, Mark, Luke and JOhn, along with the first teachings of the church in the Acts of the Apostles and the letters of Paul. We know the words of Jesus through them.

That's because the Pope is a fool who worships a dead woman named Mary. Secondly, Evangelical Christians refer to the Holy Bible as the Word of God, or the Lord's Word. Jesus is both Word and the Lord.
