Anyone can answer, but especially those that don't believe in a god.

Reminds me of that bit in Catch 22.

Anyway, I don't believe in a God of History; one whose supposed exploits are charted in writings from the past. There is no way I can face a divinity who sits from the distant yesterday and claims that enough has been done, or who has dangled false hopes over our future. Life is not that simple. The God that I would believe in would exist in the here and now, and would be defined through such an existence rather than through the broken remains of our ancestors.

An interesting question, Josephine. I guess my answer would be: that guy in the Bible. A God who creates the universe in seven days. Who appears as someone who pops in in for a cup of tea, who wrestles with humans, who's a burning bush, who shows his back to Moses, who disappears during the Old Testament, only to be heard of again as an occasional disembodied voice.
A God who kills forty six children by sending two bears from the forest because they teased a man for his baldness. A God who kills 150,000 people because three of them looked at the ark of the covenant. A God who regularly sends plagues and pestilences to kill untold numbers of people. A God who kills the entire human race barring one family and two of every species of animal.
Most of all, an omnipotent God who presumably knows there was no literal Adam, therefore no original sin to forgive therefore no need for his son/himself to be tortured and executed. If God wanted to forgive sin then why not just forgive it?
A God who is responsible for the endless warring between the Abrahamic religions - Christians, Jews, Muslims.
A God who, despite all this and so much more, is currently interpreted as, wait for it, a God of love.
That God, I suppose.

The kind of God who had total power of the universe, yet cared a jot whether or not tiny creatures (creatures He had created) believed in Him.

The kind of God who would drop obscure hints about His existence but never give direct proof.

The kind of God who would confuse potential believers by burying dinosaur bones which appeared to come from before He created the world.

The kind of God who would call on some of the insignificant creatures He had created to kill others of the insignificant creatures He had created - and to do it in His name.

Silly gods: Those who have a hang-up about what people eat, wear, etc. Sounds like a god for teenagers to me..
Cruel gods: Those that go around smiting and drowning innocent people, including children.
Vain gods: The kind that have a need to be praised, sung to, adored. Sounds like a god for petty tyrants.
Racist gods: Those that "choose" a particular people over others.
Absurd gods: The kind of god that tells you he will have his own son killed so that you can be "saved." But then tells you the son is him, and he is the son, and there's even a third guy involved called a ghost ...so ... who died? (He's on first!)

I do not believe in an angry vengeful god, or a god that affects our day to day living. If there is a higher power, what the hell would it care if we get that raise at work. If there is a higher power, it is probably one that got this whole ball rolling and is just sitting back watching.

I am Agnostic, and as a being who prizes truth, logic and rational thought I find it hard to believe that a being that created the known universe would be as illogical and inefficient as the God depicted in the Christian Jeudao beliefs. For anyone to have created the known universe, they would not be afforded the luxury of prizing one species over another.

I'm sorry, but this is a stupid question if it's being directed towards those who don't believe in a god.

I don't believe in ANY gods. None.

It's like asking a bald person what hair they don't have.

There is no god of any kind. God`s are only imaginary figures, and religion is all folklore. Everything is controlled by Mother Nature.
