I know this is not true of all muslims, but as i understand it the extreme muslims will not be happy until the whole world is devote muslim, this will never happen so presumably we will have terrorisem for ever??

Got to say, i am surprised by some of the naivete of some of the answers, "jesus will prevail",!! and sort out all the problems!!, so you will just sit back and relax and let things run there course, come on get real!!!!!

They want what any type of extermist would want. i.e. they are extreme in their beliefs. When a person becomes extreme their judgment is clouded. And when a persons judgement is clouded they start having delusions such as "everyone should convert" etc.
But remember extremists of any nature are dangerous, including extremist chirstians, extremist jews etc. The press just don't give them as much coverage because it's "fashionable" to analyse muslims at the moment.
I'm a muslim & proud of it. But I would never try to force my beliefs on anyone because one of the basic principles of Islam is "their is no compulsion in religion" and this is stated clearly in the Quran.

I don't think being an extremely devote Muslim means you are automatically a terrorist, but, yes, I guess they would want to live in a Muslim monoculture.
Also Muslim terrorists don't want to convert the world to their faith.
They want non-Muslim people to either die horribly or at the very least stop killing/ interfering with/ influencing Muslim people and nations.
Even your die-hard nut-job suicide bomber can't really think
(s)he's converting people to the Muslim faith.
Terrorism will exist forever regardless of the Muslim faith. It occurs anytime you have one culture dominating another.
And don't forget that "Terrorist" is a subjective term.
One mans terrorist is another mans martyr, just as one mans insurgent is another mans freedom fighter.
Its all down to perspectives.

Never say never... the muslim population of most European countries is growing a lot faster than other groups of people. Muslims are now in the senates of these european countries... it is only a matter of time until the muslim communities there have the voting power to turn their beliefs into law.
I hope I'm dead by then. I'll probably be taken out by a muslim terrorist.

they want every single foreign soldier to get our of every single Muslim country period.
they want Israel out of Palestine and the Palestinians to get back their stolen land.
they want the world super powers to stop interfering in their business and leave their natural resources alone.
they want the US to stop supporting the world's biggest dictators for as long as they only work for the US.
they want the US to stop acting like the world's police and stop attacking any country or put sanctions on the countries that disagree with the US which results on the death of millions from famine like we saw in Iraq after the 1st gulf war.
i don't think they are asking for much
try opening a history book about the US and the middle east long history and you'll understand why those people hate the US so much.
the so called "Islamic terrorism" will continue as long as Israel and the US are the same tyrants.

Where has this idea that they want all non Muslims to convert or die come from? I don't believe this to be the case. Poki Poki's answer gives a more accurate description of what they want.

Take a look at some of the american religious extremists - they are probably more frightening - brainwashing their children to believe in a load of old twoddle!

You are correct in that they want to establish a worldwide caliphate. However, there is a God and he will right all wrongs. Jesus Christ is coming back and he will destroy the enemies of God. So, I am not worried. "To die is to gain" is what the Bible says, so terrorism is not something I worry about.

They want to force everyone to become islamic. Actually all arab muslims want this. The only real muslims are black muslims living in america or europe that meld with society.

They want to fight someone as it is in their genes. When they are not fighting the west, they are fighting other sects or provinces.
Before the first world war most arab tribes were at war with each other over wells and lands.

no , idon't think that they want that ,who wants to be muslim he is welcome, if he dont ,it is up to him, they want palastine to have their lands back , they want iraq to be independent , they simply wanted JUSTICE And EVERY ONE TO HAVE HIS OWN RIGHT AND BE IN HIS OWN BUSINESS , but i think they expressed it in a wrong way.
and yes ! as u said not all muslims are so , they are only a few.
