Is it truly Dandruff? Most people can't differentiate between Dandruff and flaky scalp. True Dandruff is caused by a virus and you should see your dermatologist for help with that. Flaky scalp or what people most commonly think is Dandruff is actually caused by over active sebacious glands. These overactive glands are pushing too much sebum (Or oil) through a small, trap door type hole in the epidermis. Dandruff shampoo like Selsun Blue or Head and Shoulders contains an ingredient called Pyrithione Zinc and it's actually the same active ingredient as rat poison. It tears off the top three layers of the epidermis so when the "trap door" is gone.....Voila! No more flakes. That's cuz there's no more skin to come off! Problem: now ALL of your sebacious glands are going to be overactive and if you try to stop with the rat poison....err' uhhhh.....Dandruff shampoo the problem will be much worse than ever. It's a vicious cycle. What I would recommend is stabilizing your sebacious glands by using a shampoo for problem scalp...not Dandruff! Try L'anza's Remedy Shampoo.
Also, give yourself what is called a "Scientific Brushing". What you need to do is purchase a natural bristle brush, like boar bristle and comb all around the hair line. Then parting your hair from forhead to nape and ear to ear (You will have 4 sections) take a subsection of about 1/2" and use the brush to brush downward on the scalp. A round brush is good to roll it while you're brushing. Remember to brush your scalp NOT your hair. Work you way all around the head until you've done a good brushing over the entire scalp. Then shampoo. This not only removes any excess skin, it also gets the circulation flowing and disperses the natural oils. By increasing the blood flow it will also help to get your hair growing faster!
I'm afraid I don't know what dietary changes to help you with but you may consult a nutritionist or possibly someone else may give you an answer more directed towards that.
Hope this helps!

Neways. A friend of mine who suffered with severe dandruff for years tried this brand and his dandruff was gone within a week - never to return! Many shampoo's and conditioners on the market contain toxic chemicals that actually dry out the scalp and irritate the skin possibly causing dandruff in the first place or making it even worse rather than helping to get rid of it. Neways is the only company that I know of who make an entire range of Hair, Personal Care and Health products without any toxic chemicals at all. You cannot buy this brand in retail stores though, you will need to find a distributor - I can help you there!

Dandruff (Pityriasis capitis) is the excessive flaking of dead skin that forms on the scalp. Most cases of dandruff can be treated with specialized shampoos or common household remedies. Mild dandruff may be caused by overactive sebaceous glands. Other causative factors include family history, food allergies, excessive perspiration, use of alkaline soaps, yeast infections, and stress. Even the season of the year can contribute to the problem: Cold, dry winters are notorious for bringing on dandruff or making it worse. Symptoms of dandruff can also be aggravated by exposure to dust, UV light, harsh shampoos, and hair dyes. In rare cases, dandruff may be caused by over use of hair gel or spray. Dandruff can in some cases be linked to poor nutrition, particularly deficiencies in the mineral zinc. Some people mistakenly avoid washing their hair, believing that the drying effect of shampoo will worsen their dandruff. By washing the hair regularly, however, dead skin is in fact removed before it can build up into larger, more noticeable flakes. Using acid-based shampoos helps restore acidity to the scalp, breaking down oils and preventing dead skin cells from collecting into visible clumps. There are shampoo brands available specifically for those who have dandruff. The gold standard of shampoo brands is Selsun Blue with selenium sulfide. For more persistent or severe dandruff, as well as dandruff due to seborrheic dermatitis, shampoo containing 1% or 2% ketoconazole, such as Nizoral, can be used.Household remedies to get rid of dandruff are apple cider vinegar (the gold standard of household remedies), salt or lemon juice. Apply the liquid to the scalp and allow to remain for several minutes to several hours, even overnight, then shampoo and rinse clean in the shower. One good way to apply the liquid is from a spray bottle, or simply by pouring over the head. Apple cider vinegar can also be used as a rinse after shampooing: the vinegar will act as both a fungicide to fight the cause of the cell buildup, as well as a rinsing agent, which will rinse clumps of skin away before they appear large enough to be visible.
