Yes there is a very high rate of infection for that "procedure" and yes, you always get stitches, because otherwise you will bleed way too much, swallow too much blood and get sick. The blood paltelets don't clot well in your mouth or other internal places. They didn't even put me under. All I got was local anstetic. I hates those s.o.b.'s

I recently had a wisdom tooth extracted and they did not put stitches in. It depends on the size of the hole left behind. Antibiotics are however always a part of the procedure for risk of infection.

NO and NO , i depends on how large the extraction site was after extraction, and antibotics are not general given as a rule, unless theres a good reason,

I had mine(2 upper) pulled today i did not get any antibiotika and i did not get stiches from the wisdon teeth(had surgery have stiches from there).
My Dentist told me that i did not had to get stiches.Now wheneveri get my buttom ones out i will have to get stiches because there are still inside so they have to be cut out.

They usually do give antibiotics as a precautionary measure. They normally do not stitch you up, although I feel they should.
Without stitches it is very possible to get a dry socket. And if you get a dry socket it hurts like ****!!!!
