Who gets married in less than a month with no way to pay? Go to the justice of the peace and save the money for all the hoopla. Perhaps for your first anniversary you will be better prepared to hold some kind of ceremony.

If you can't afford a wedding, get married at the court house and let the father pay for a dinner or reception after. If you must have a formal wedding, cut the guest list to immediate family, buy silk flowers at a dollar store & make your own bouquets, have family & friends make food & have the reception at someone's home or use a cheap location. The senior citizens center here which is not used everyday, has a piano, chairs, & a kitchen in the back for preparing or heating food. Do not have an open bar, no bar is better. Have a friend play DJ with/a portable stereo & recorded music you made yourselves. It can be done, you just have to get creative.
Good luck!

Have a small informal wedding at home, or a special place. Sometimes the corny stuff can be the stuff you remember. I know I wish I had back all the money spent on my wedding. Not that it was wasted.. but it kind of was.. I mean it's over... done... and it we did it pretty inexpensively. There are so many neat things you can do. Depending on where you live... short ceremony on the beach? spend the money on the honeymoon! I also hear that it's relatively inexpensive to get married in Jamaica. They have packages at lots of resort places that you can do it. And then let your guests pay their own way, it's a way they can get a vacation in too!

Have you tried applying for a loan, they have those just for wedding .. im sure you have seen the advertisement in the popular bridal magazines, ie Bride, Modern Bride etc. Try making your own stuff, How long have you been planning your wedding? Did he just pop the question and you decided to say yes? If so you can go to Micheals or any arts and craft store to make your own center pieces, pew decorations etc, even walmart has decent bridal stuff, if you know how to sew or know a seamstress you can get her to make several of your items, save the money that your soon to be father-in-law gives you to pay for the big stuff, like the reception, you can find nice candles at cheap prices, make a lot of your own stuff find cheap things and dress it up.... BUT make stuff like invitations, programs, centerpieces etc,, use corsages inside of bouquets for your attendants etc.... Girl work that Magic and get creative!! If all else fall do a cheap destination wedding... try this site WWW. VictoriaInn.com.... its cheap and you can plan your honeymoon there as well!!

If it's next year then start saving now. Put back at least 10% of your check. Start planning now and catch stuff on sale. I've borrowed a lot of stuff/decorations from family friends. I've really lucked out on that part. Also you need to decide if it's going to be a big wedding or a small family one. If you are strapped for cash you should probably have a small wedding. figure out what is more important to you to spend money on....the wedding ceremony or the reception. research everything! Good Luck!

You dont need to make a big fuss of the whole thing.Just make
arrangements to get married in youre local Church or Registery
Office without all the fancy trimmings, and then have a Celebration
in youre own Home perhaps,or Small Hotel, whatever you can
afford.
A few years later you can reafirm youre vows, and have a blessing in Church and then splash out on a big Do whenyou have plenty of Cash. This has been done in my Country people have waited usually about ten years later and really pushed the boat out on Celebrations any excuse for a pary.

A Medieval Wedding huh? Do you have any Renaissance Faires in your area or any that are coming up?

Sometimes you can get married at these, in fact before one starts they are usually looking for couples to get married. Just contact your local Renaissance Faire. They should be able to help you out and I'm sure it can't cost that much.

Renaissance Fairs. Almost all of the Renaissance Fairs held throughout the world conduct wedding ceremonies or will allow you to arrange your wedding ceremony to take place at their faire. The Society for Creative Anachronism (http://www.sca.org/ ) is the best place to start your search.

Here are a couple of general Medieval / Renaissance Wedding Websites:

If you cant afford such a wedding, you shouldn't have it. Theres nothing worse than starting out a new marriage in debt, and over a wedding. Stop thinking like a princess and start being rational. You cant afford your medieval wedding, let that one go. If you are insistant on it, then I suggest holding off until you could afford it. The simple fact that your thinking is that you dont have parents to pay for it pretty much tells me your priorities are a little skewed.

Elope, save everyone a lot of grief. Take everyone out to dinner when you get back. My oldest brother had the decency to get married in the registry office on the Isle of Eigg just off the north west coast of Scotland. Heck of a place to tie the knot, and nobody had to do anything about it. The mothers were a bit miffed though.
