Pleurisy is inflammation of the lining of the lungs, the pleural lining. It is between the outside of the lungs and the rib cage. Pleurisy can be caused by infection. It is also very common in lupus patients. When you have pleurisy, it hurts to breath, it hurts to move. The pain can be anywhere in the upper part of the body. Pleurisy can be treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Good luck. Have it checked out.

Yes, I would expect it to be on one side or the other above half way up the back. Midline pain could still be pleurisy but may be something else.
