Here is the situation. I have been friends with this guy for 3 years. We always had some sort of feelings for eachother but for 2 out of the 3 years we have known eachother, both of us had been in "on-again/off-again" relationships. We would always talk about our problems together and be there for eachother, we built up a really strong bond. Well now it has been 1 year since both of us have been "single," and he confessed that he still has feelings for me and would like to start a relationship. I am so excited! I like him too, BUT he went into the Marine's last year and he won't be out until late 2008. I care for him, but is the distance worth it? Should we wait to start a relationship until he gets out?

i'd wait if he's a good guy and i love him very much, i'm not GAY just for example. well just see how it goes and continue with your life, if you meet someone better follow your heart and see how it lead you, but you need to remember one thing, before you start a new relationship you need to cut the previous one or any promises with other guys else you might suffer and hurt someone accidentally

I don't think you have a choice...it's not really a 'relationship' if you don't see, feel and hear him on a regular basis. Once a week on a computer or telephone is NOT a relationship; that's called emotional torture, and BF/GF, marriages and lovelives have been ripped apart for thousands of years because of it!

I don't think you should put your life on hold while he is in the service for that long. You can still continue to talk and remain close but if you meet other guys, go out and have fun!

I don't know if he would expect you to wait....you should determine where this could go before you make a decision like that. If this is something worth waiting for then by all means wait for him.

It seems you guys have been through a lot together. If you guys really care for each other than nothing should stop you from being together....
