She has a litter box but has went to the bathroom twice on the kitchen floor in the past month. Is she being spiteful? Could it be a health related problem?

Maybe because she sees you doing it.

Cats are strange, you really cannot train them, they kind of train you. The only time I have known of cats doing this is when there is a problem with the litter box. Try getting a new one. Maybe the cat does not like the cat litter in there now. There could be many reasons. I do not think the cat is sick, just stubborn as most cats are. If the problem continues after a new box then I would ask a vet. This may sound silly but the cat might be upset about something.

Well, at least it is on the kitchen floor instead of the carpet or furniture. Have there been any changes around the house lately? Is the litter box cleaned regularly and scooped out daily? These types of things sometimes stress a cat and they will act up. It is hard to sometimes determine the cause. Take her to the vet if the problem continues. The vet will be able to give you some insights or prescribe treatment if the problem is physical.

It could be several things. If you don't keep her litter box clean she may rebel and go on the floor. They get a little angry sometimes!! This could be true also if a new animal or possibly a new baby has come into the picture.
Is she an older cat? I had a cat named "Muffin" many years ago and as he aged something in the commercial cat food caused kidney stones which led to bladder infections. He would go potty in the bath tub because he wanted us to know there was a problem. I agree with the other post that you may want to take her to the vet and have her checked out.

Good luck!

Your kitty might not like her litter box-it should be clean and have enough sand to bury debris. She may be having a slight infection as well. When kitties aren't feeling well (bladder infec., liver problem,, etc.,) they will let you know in this way. I suggest keeping up on the littler box but take her in for a check up. Anything new in the house that she doesn't like; a new pet, baby, person? This too might be causing her to react. If she gets a good check up and the probelm persists, try putting her food bowl in the kitchen spots, she won't go where she has her food.

Is the litter box in an area she can get to easy? Is it someplace where you go many times in a day? Sometimes cats don't like a public area for thier duties. Going on the kitchen floor is telling you that it may be in the wrong place,

No it's not health related. It's Cat related.

There is a 3 step process to keep your cat from using the house as a litterbox. It's actually simple and easy to do.

First, open the kitchen door.
Next, throw the cat, food/water bowls, and any other cat stuff out of the house.
FInally, close the door and don't let the cat back in your house!

Oh, Cats can be very spiteful. She probably is upset with you and you both need to see a pet counsellor.
Or you can just rub her nose in her urine next time, hiss at her than throw her in her litter box. Make sure you clean the floor real good. Cats return to their 'Spots'.
A water bottle with a spray nozzle works great for discipline.

we've an rather enormous storage closet in our laundry room, so as it really is the position I save mine. that is were given double doors on it, so I purely go away one cracked so the cats can get in. that is totally out of how and it doesn't scent. I have a self cleansing muddle field said as "the muddle maid." it extremely works and that is extremely cool, you purely must be confident you purchase the right cat muddle and empty the plastic field that the poo receives swept into prevalent, otherwise it may get stopped up and forestall scooping. One tip the following: the plastic packing boxes that the poo receives scooped into are disposable, yet I have 2 cats, so that they replenish quite speedy. those packing boxes are severe priced, i imagine they're like $20 for a p.c.. of 12, so I purely empty the bin right into a bag and re-use it. they could very last for type of 5-6 makes use of in case you do it that way. desire this allows....solid success.

It could be either or, or both!
medical problem--could be a bladder infection...
OR
for spite--yeah, cats pee all over "for spite". My friend Mimi's cat used to pee ON HER BED just because she started spending more time with her boyfriend.
