It's a Jewish thing. It's a way to respect & honour G-d by not daring to write his name.

Many people consider it using the lords name in vain when they say things like Oh My God or God Damn. they try not to use his name for lower forms of vocabulary because his name is supposed to imply something more than normal. personally, i think that language doesnt have any spiritual meaning. spirituality is gained through actions. Pretty deep huh. lol

No clue. It could possibly be there act for reverance to the lord most high. But i know in actualality it is most likely out of fear of a higher power that acts upon their life without them feeling like they are in control.

Us jews do it because you are not suppose to spell out gods name and in anicent hebrew there are no vowels!

I have answered this question many times on here.

It is disrespectful to mention, or write, the name of G-d. His Holiness is far beyond all mentioning.
