I am thinking of joining the NAVY. So maybe it can help, and gain me some experience. Before I start looking for a job. Any tips on getting in shape? Thanks.

the other two answers were good advice, thought i'd just elaborate. Your key events you want to work on for the Navy will be pushups, situps, running, and swimming. For pushups and situps, i recommend something called a pyramid workout. It builds power, strength, and endurance; incorporates a warmup, max rep, and cooldown phase, and helps you from losing focus. Basically, a pyramid workout consists of you starting with 2 reps in your first set, 4 in your next, 6 in your next, and so on until you can no longer add more reps, and then go back down the pyramid by 2's. Example: 2-4-6-8-10-12-10-8-6-4-2. Do situps by 3's, Example: 3-6-9-12-15-18-15-12-9-6-3. Good luck!

Navy is a job! Remember that you enlist for a number (8?) of years. To enlist you must have a good condition, and have no fobia like hight and climbing down steep (realy steep that is!) stairs. It helps if you also are used to water (a lot of water). The navys final exam is (or at last was in late 90:es) a crueling 14 hours damage control (like firefightning and simular) excersice. If you think that you can handle that then the Navy is someting for you and good luck! Johan

well, before you decide to go into the Navy or even boot camp or OCS, you need to run and get your cardio up and going...i was never a runner before i went to boot camp, the first week they had us run 1.5 mile and i was dying, if i stopped running, i had an RDC on my butt telling me to move it....by the end of bootcamp i could run like a pro and it wouldnt even phase me...i learned how to swim when i was around 5 years old, but before boot camp, i hadnt swam in like 8 years...when i got into that pool i was hurting, everyone was passing me while the swim test came up and i was the last person to finish, it was sad

so, make sure you brush up on your running and swimming and have a good heart rate to go with it

Run, do push-ups, do sit-ups, this you will do a lot of in boot camp. Thanks for serving our country and have fun! (Boot camp is a lot of fun, just be prepared mentally to be yelled at a lot.)
