The main similarity is that there is a belief in a higher being,, be it God, Jesus, Allah, Buddah, whatever.
The ceremonies and rituals are different, but there is a common thread of faith and comfort when life is good and when life is challenging. All religions pray to a higher being, and these thoughts and energies are released to the universe, and most prayers are answered... we just dont like it when the answer is no.
Community and a sense of belonging is an offshoot of religion... there is a comfort found in socializing and supporting one another, especially when it involves like minded people.
All paths lead to God, whatever form that takes....is up to the individual.

If you can find a book called "Before Columbus", there are some interesting examples of this. It describes some of the religious beliefs of some of the tribes in North and South America, and their similarities with Christianity before the Americas were discovered by Columbus.
For instance, one South American tribe believed in a creation story that holds a remarkable resemblance to the flood story of Noah.
It also talks about the journey of an Irish saint some 500 years or so before the Vikings landed in Canada, describing landmarks that can only be found on the coast of eastern South America. It is possible that this is the source of some of the beliefs of the tribes in the Americas which bear a resemblance to Christianity.
If you also read some ancient history, you will find that Christianity and Judaism get many of their beliefs from older faiths. For instance, the 10 Commandments of Moses can be found in the Egyptian Book of Ani, which is about 300 years older than the Torah. Ani contains a series of oaths the faithful must fulfill in life, in order to reach the afterlife. Moses would have been exposed to The Book of Ani as the adopted son of Pharaoh... It would have been ingrained in him as part of his indoctrination into Egyptian royalty.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at the timeline of events.
Moses is adopted into Egyptian court.
Moses is exposed to the Book of Ani.
Moses leaves court to regain his Jewish heritage.
Moses becomes a leader among the Jews.
Moses uses Ani as the source for the 10 Commandments.
Moses writes the Torah, engraining his version of Ani into Judaism.
Christ is born, dies, and becomes a god.
Christianity retains the 10 Commandments as holy doctrine.
The only question is where did the oaths Ani originate from? Since the Book of Ani is a compilation of Egyptian religious thought, it's own origins must be even older than the religion of the ancient Egyptians...
I've found in my own studies, that there are not so much similarities in the religions of the world, as much as there is a natural progression, and evolution, of beliefs .

They all proclaim and profess allegiance to One Supreme. Many names, One person; many ways, one destination; many hues, one colour. That is the commonality among the religions of the world. That is why there are conversions. Because there were similarities in the other religion and my prior religion.

Yes they are similar. Every religion is seeking for someone higher than them. But the only one that counts is when you follow Jesus Christ alone, because he is the only one that saves.
Did you know that the rest of the rulers didn't come back to life after dying?
Go for Christ cuz He's the life.

Yes. Since Hammurabi'a code until Muhammed's message (pbuh), all religions whether God-sent or man-made had been set for the same reason, to enforce ETHICS & MORALITY.

For MOST of them, yes. The similarity for them is that they were created by the deceiver as false gods (greed, lust, power, hatred, allah, etc) to distract and keep us away from the one true God, and salvation thru His Son, Jesus.
