where and how do I to leagally change my name in long beach california?

My domestic partner and I would like to change our last name, I am not sure where to start. I would prefer to not hire an attorney.

Just go to the court house to their department of records. Don't forget to change your social security cards, too, and all legal papers.

Get all the necessary paperwork from your local county court house, then you will have to appear in court, they will do a background check on you, and once granted, go to your local SS office, and file your new name change.
