why some people are so mean to animals?

I was driven to a neighborhood and i saw some kids hitting a bag hanging from a branch of a tree i stop cause i heard a cat screaming i ask them what the hell are you doing i call police they got arrested i took the cat the vet w/both front leg a broken a er missing and some other injury the vet cost me around $1.000

I'm not sure, but it's disgusting. I think it could have something to do with their front cerebral cortex of the brain being damaged. That's the part of the brain responsible for judgement. Alot of kids who abuse animals go on to be criminals and serial killers and the majority of those people have damage to the front of the their brain. Not that it's an excuse, but it is an explanation. People should be more aware of the causes and get these kids counseling, or some kind of help before it goes to far.

This is entrenched hostility and in different circumstances, the victim would not be a cat, but a person. The morale degradation stems from less contact with parents, indifferent nuturing and violence on TV. I admire your bravery but next time, be more prudent and simply call the police first. Such young people may not hesitate to turn on you.

Being mean boils down to three things: choice, taught or abuse. People who choose to be mean do it as a negative effect of reverse self esteem. Instead of find an outlet that's positive they choose the opposite to make themselves happy. In other cases such as learning it prejudice is version of being me. Lastly abuse is caused by trama one experiences causing them to react a certain way. Example could be a husband beating his wife because his mother was beat by dad. With people being mean to animals I hate to say it but the children could have been bored or angry. Decided to take out pent up energy on the defenseless animal. Children sometimes see things that look ok to do and figure I can do the same. They could have scene older kids doing it, an adult, movie or t.v. I hate to say it but children are influenced by what they see. Yes television does have an effect on children. You did a noble thing by stoping and doing what you did. Not everyone would have cared or would have been afraid to help out. I tip my hate to you sir.

First, hats off to you for doing the right thing, irregardless of the vet bill you incurred. These types of people are simply the early makings of future serial killers. They are psychologically disturbed individuals with no empathy, sociopaths. Are they born that way? Sometimes. Often it comes from a childhood of neglect, abuse or both. But Animals need more advocates for their rights. They never have alterior motives!

Some people are just plain mean and the one I seen were Majority Christian people however that’s statically probable as the majority of people in the USA are Christians.
Of course just because you say your Christian does not make you one as actions speak louder then words

I don't have an answer as to why people hurt animals. Why do people harm other people? Why are people rude? Why do people cut you off in the morning and then flick you off like you were the one that almost caused the accident?

Some people are just heartless a**holes without souls.

That was really decent of you. I've no idea why someone would do such a thing, but I do have a couple of friends that saved animals in similar situations, and ended up with the best pets ever.

2 words IGNORANCE and COWARDICE
i've been rescuing animals since i was 10. after 30 years i've seen some pretty bad stuff. thank you for getting involved. its sad that they'll get off with a measly fine. penalties aren't stiff enough.

Nice job! People like that deserve to have done to them what they do to animals. Probably these losers are too afraid to pick on someone their own size because they know they'll get their butt kicked. And deservedly so!
