If you are not the person listed, they will not give you warrant info over the phone.

The sheriff office may not be the ones doing it, were they sheriff officers, or where they county marshals or city police officers, or state police officers.

Maybe a County Sheriff would have no record of a city police warrant. Call the city police.

Sounds like they doctored up a fake warrant so they could do an illegal search. You need to check with the sheriff's department again or maybe go to the courthouse and check. Depending on where you live, you might be able to check for a warrant online.

maybe the police officers did not put the warrant back or turn it back in. beleive it or not it has happened. I have pulled a warrant to be served, and had it at my desk. and then someone called and spoke to someone else who looked for it and did not see anything under that person's name and told them no there was no warrant for them. I don't know how other localities do theirs, but our warrants are in a room about the size of a closet filed. we do not keep our warrant info on computer.

to me, it sounds like crossed wires in the paperwork and the department.

Bail bond is going to help you after the arrest.

Do you have a warrants office where you live? I would call that number- from a payphone.

Call the bail bondsman. Aso call the department that arrested the person. They WILL give you the information.Bail bondsman first. Also if it's from another state or county they will have that info too. If they moved the person they will tell you that too. Has the person already been to arraignment? You aren't very clear.

When you called who's name did you give them...yours or the person they are after? If you gave them your name they won't be able to find anything about it because the warrant is for someone else.
