You can burn the retina at the back of your eye and it will become inflamed (like sunburn). If done often enough, it could lead to blindness, so best not to do it. Make sure you wear good sunglasses.

The UV light will damage the retina and possibly even the optic nerve. The retina enables you to differentiate between colors and dark/light. When you come into the house after being in the snow and sun simultaneously, your eyesight won't be as good because the retina has been blinded by the snow's brightness. Staring into the sun will do that permanently to your eyesight.
