I just had the first session of my root canal done and I only have a very fragile plastic piece covering it for the next two weeks. I was told to only eat soft food and I can't think of anything but applesause and icecream.

Mac-n-cheese; potatoes; soup; etc. Just watch out for hard candy or things like steak; also be careful of sticky, tacky foods like gum, skittles and the like that can stick to the temporary and pull it out.

There are lots of soft foods you can eat, most soups not with meat chunks though. Pastas like fettuccine, or spagghetti, mashed potatoes, gravies, applesauce, yogurt, jello, puddings, creme brulees, soft fruits like mashed peaches, strawberries, bananas, most berries without seeds like blueberries or strained rasberries or blackberries, ice creams, sorbets, sherberts, broiled fish, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat/rice,smoothies. Hopefully there will be something here you enjoy, and you can always puree your favorites ina blender or food processer.

Try things that are mostly liquid based like soups, noodles or broth. You can also eat things like pasta, mash potatoes or macaroni - anything that will not make your mouth work to hard to break down.
