I need to hand in an assignment with an explenation and an example of ELISAs use on friday. I've been looking for the last 2 months and I can only find a coulpe of websites that tell me anything. Please help! It'll be much appreciated.

Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is an immunoassay method used by the medical community to test for a variety of disease antibodies. The most well know using this is the test for AIDS.

It's a fairly techical explanation, so I will just leave it for the link below which explains it better than I could.

I've been looking up ELISA's myself today and have to admit some of it is confusing- especially when it comes to control samples!! Here's a few websites that might help you

ELISA - enzyme linked immunosorbent test.
useful blood test to detect specific proteins and antibodies.
Anigens are left in small 'wells' and blood is added - If the antibody is present - it will react.
Then a second layer of enzyme is added - This gives the colour needed to see the reaction. This is useful for measuring.
Used in - Tuberculosis etc.
