I'm the newest person at the office and I want to bring something good. The problem is I don't know how to cook. And I don't really want to risk cooking something and having it turn out horrible and unedible! What could I buy to bring?

I have a zillion recipes for the novice. I am a pampered chef consultant and deal with a lot of people that normally would burn water. Do you want to make a dessert or side dish? I can make it as easy as you want or as elborate where they'd think you bought it not made it. A lot of the recipes are no thought needed... let me know a little more specifics and I can hook you up.

Here is a recipe that I always take: People INSIST that I take it. Good job security. Difficult to mess up. There has NEVER been any left over, and I usually make a small one for the family, as they get upset if I don't, they love it too!

HARVEST POTATOES.

Two bags frozen diced potatoes.
Two large onions, finely chopped.
Two cans cream of chicken soup (unless there are vegetarian, you can go with cream of mushroom or celery).
One large tub of sour cream.
One stick butter, melted.
Three cups shredded cheese, cheddar is good, so is Monterrey Jack.
Three tablespoons salt, pepper to taste

Mix above together and mash into large casserole dish.

TOPPING:
2 cups cornflakes, crushed, mixed with about a fourth cup melted butter. Spread on top. Bake for one and a half hours at 350. Don't shortcut on the cooking time.

I make it up the night before, refrigerate overnight get up a little early to cook it, then cover it with foil, put it in a box with newspapers above and below, retains the warmth until lunchtime.

You can, of course, divide it or double it, to fit the number of officemates you will be feeding. This amount feeds about 25, you can buy one of the large disposable casseroles at the store, no cleanup!

Feta Cheese Ball with Pita Chips
2 (8oz) packages cream cheese - softened
8 oz feta cheese-crumbled
4 Tbsp olive oil
5 green onions-finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
4 tsp dried dill
2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp cracked black pepper
Mix well and shape into 2 balls. To get a nice shape, line 2 small dessert bowls with plastic wrap and stuff the cheese mixture in them, then chill. This will give you nice half-rounds to put in the middle of a platter and surround with crackers or pita chips.
Make your own pita chips by cutting small pita bread into wedges, place on a baking sheet in a single layer, then spray with vegetable oil, sprinkle with salt and toast in a 450F oven for 8-10 minutes. Watch them carefully-they will burn before you know it.

Dessert is always a good choice. You could take a pumpkin (or any other flavor) pie, or a cheesecake.
