I want to know the details about flight booking. Where it is advisable to book and howmany days in advance? What is the difference in booking with travel agent or with online. Is there any fare difference if I reserve a ticket to the next 10th and 20th and 30th day. And also is there any fare difference if I buy the ticket with travelling agent or with online or any other sources? Any other advices regarding flight booking and boarding instructions?

depends on when and where and how long you stay. Travel agents can generally save you money on a long haul tkt,,,,i.e international with a long stay ...because they buy up space on airplanes at a big discount, to say the Phillipines....and re-sell the space. Domestic flights you'save money by booking directly with the airline, no service charges that way. Generally, but there are exceptions....you get the best fare donestically at 21days, 14 days, 10 days and 7 days advance purchase.

Charges most often relate to the number of available seats on the flight. As the flight fills up, the price goes up. This is called "yield management" in airline terms. The best deals appear to be on-line at each airline's web site, although sites like Orbitz and Travelocity are good places to start when putting together your iteniary.

Waiting until the last minute to purchase your tickets only works on rare occassions. Airlines know that last minute travellers are usually desperate for the flight and they price their tickets to maximize the available revenue.

A travel agent can be useful to help you plan your trip. However, expect an extra fee for their service.

If you book online, you will usually get a discount. The further ahead you book your flight, the cheaper the fare; at least, this is what lots of the airlines say. However, if you're a single passenger and they've got available seats on a flight, you can pick them up for a song, if you're lucky.

Got one detail for you- it's mor expensive to fly into and out of places that are rural or remote. If you can get to a big hub and fly to a big hub, then there will be plenty of other people sharing the cost of gas with you!
And yes, the earlier you book, the better!
And no, Priceline isn't so great because you can end up with three different stops. If even one flight is delayed, etc., who knows how long your trip will take. A day? Two?
Good luck!
