I have failed in two consecutive competitions. Both of them were written, and I can feel that it was because of my horrible handwriting. Are there any easy tips that I should follow in order to make my handwriting better?

Thanks

Re-angel the paper, try using a pen that is used for calligrqaphy ( I have done years of this) Then find the besst paper to yur liking, padded properly, examply with a no. 2 lead pencil and a Drawing "H" as well both finely sharpened....anythng less soft will inhibit youand set you back psycologically.....try a rapidiograph if you like...but tru perhaps 3 different nibs on an inkwell pen...then find your FAVOURUTE ball point pen(s). This is MY recommendation.... I did the Inviations for the 25th Anniversary of Beverly Hills High School one year...and then Christmas both privately and on the job where i worked the money was great....some days i am not in great hand..and I had to simply say that as i stated it upfront but i NEVER missed a deadline. I am SURE you have a variety of fave pens....but i really recommend at least someof what i have said in the above...as it worked for me. medium calligraophy Nibs often really impriove everyday penmanship..and the pens can be vry inexpensive.
Thanks..i wish you well...

P.S. Above all...R-E-L-A-X !!!!!! & Enjoy your best effort!

First of all, I really admire you for asking for suggestions on how to improve yourself and your chances for future success. Kudos to you for that!

As a teacher's assistant who grades thousands of homework assignments and test papers, I can tell you that poor handwriting is not only hard to decipher - it can OFTEN lead to mistakes being made by both the student and the teacher who sometimes has to guess at what the student meant to say. You may be correct that your "failure" in the competitions was related to your poor penmanship (I wonder if the essays could have been typed? Just curious).

The ONLY way to improve your penmanship is to practice, practice, practice from a good example. I don't know if you will consider this "easy". It isn't rocket science. It does require that you commit a small block of time, every day, to writing, over and over again. Ask for daily feedback from your parents and/or teachers. Keep your pages so that you can see your improvement.

When your teachers and I went to school, penmanship was part of the curriculum. We HAD to "get it right" in order to pass...and the only way THAT happened was to do it, every day.

Wait till you become a doctor - then you can scribble everything in "chicken scratch"! For now - get out the pad of lined paper, a supply of good pencils, and get going. I bet you will win your next competition!
