Yup. They need to place themselves at the pinnacle of the universe and evolution proves otherwise.

They are threatened by the possibility that the Bible could be proved wrong and therefor invalid. Every time anyone questions the text of the Bible, there is fear that the Bible could be pushed to the side and the Church destroyed.
The Church sees it as their end. They look at the Greek gods ending after the Ancient Greek society ended.
Take care,
Troy

Because (not you! I'm so sorry to be saying this to you when you are being so gentle!) the evolutionists so frequently are closedminded, condescending and rude. It's frustrating to be hammered with the same old century-old stuff and frankly I just don't like to take the time for it. If someone has something new to share, like, from this millenium, and it's actually based on recent findings or something, I'd love to hear it, for balance, because all the recent research I've witnessed favors the design theory.

Their scripture is like a comfort blanket and they believe (wrongly) that their whole system of belief will collapse because of evolution. Only the literal interpretation of Genesis is challenged-the existence of God or the metaphorical interpretation of scripture is unnaffected by evolution.

Maybe they're afraid they'll revert back to apes... not that we came from apes in the first place. I'm not threatened by evolution, I just don't belive in it. I do believe in micro-evolution, which is adaptation and things like that, but macro-evolution just isn't possible.

It requires conceptualization of billions of years on a worldwide scale, and concepts drawn from genetics, zoology, botany, microbiology, and geology. It's much easier to say God did it in six days, six thousand years ago.

first, I don't think anyone should assume that not believing in something or disagreeing with something is being "threatened" by it.
I do not believe in evolution.
I believe that belief in evolution and belief in biblical truth are completely incompatible and I would be glad to explain that to anyone who is interested.
But I am not threatened by evolution anymore than I am threatened by other popular but perverse ideas.
God bless!!

Same reasons why some people are threatened by the idea of creationism.

Well, people naturally get defensive when someone says they are brainwashed, and here's proof that humans evolved, not created by some sky fairie.
